RETAIL SHOP ASSISTANT

The Schedule:

What You’ll Do As A Retail Fermentation Shop Assistant:
​
The Retail Fermentation Shop Assistant plays a dynamic and versatile role at our brick and mortar culinary shop. This position will apply their skills, enthusiasm and judgement to day-to-day business operations, customer support, inventory receiving, online store fulfillment and more! We are a small, independent shop where our team members wear many hats and juggle various responsibilities throughout the retail day.

Drive sales through personable customer engagement in-store, over the phone, email and online. After your culinary training, you’ll also assist with customer support and troubleshooting on culinary techniques.

General shop management: Opening and closing duties, assisting customers, product suggestions, managing the cash drawer.

Receive and process inventory: Unpacking deliveries, receiving items, adding price tags to each and every item, organizing back stock as needed.

Inventory management: restocking the sales floor throughout the day, merchandising and keeping things tidy.

Daily shop cleaning: mopping, sweeping, dusting and taking out the trash & recycling.

Online order fulfillment: Packing and shipping orders​
Qualifications:
​
-
2-3 years retail and/or food service (FOH) experience
-
Proficiency in G Suite and POS systems
-
“Hobby-level” experience in home fermentation
-
Ability to squat, bend and stand for long periods of time and lift up to 40lbs
-
Open availability on both weekend days

$20-$25 hour, depending on experience

WEEKEND WORKSHOP ASSISTANT
Our Workshop Assistants have a unique opportunity to experience our workshops, while being an integral member of our support staff. They create a welcoming environment for our students and work alongside a variety of chef instructors. This is a great opportunity to connect with other food-loving people and learn from the recipes and traditions shared in our classes!

What You’ll Do:​​

Assist & Learn: Support our teachers during our weekend workshops and soak up valuable knowledge alongside our students.

Capture & Create: Take photos and videos during workshops to post on our IG stories.

Clean, Tidy & Organize: "A place for everything, and everything in its place!" Hand wash and hand dry dishes, maintain an organized kitchen space, wash floors and take out the refuse!

Schedule: ~4 hours a day on Saturdays and/or Sundays

Responsibilities:
​

Prepare Workshop Space: Set up our event space for our workshops. Gather and distribute supplies and class handouts. Ensure the dish area and bathrooms are ready for students by replenishing soap and paper towels.

Student Interaction: Greet and check in students as they arrive, ensure they’re comfortably settled and distribute aprons.

Class Assistance: Wash, dry, and put away dishes. Support the teacher and students as needed.

Reset for the next day: Sweep, mop, and wipe down tables and surfaces.
