Motoshige Suribachi

Motoshige's ceramic mortar with a sancho wood pestle is designed to catch and bring ingredients down to the center of the bowl while having an etched design that looks great for serving on the dinner table.

 

The suribachi's mortar bowl is made using traditional Iwami Clay that has excellent durability. A craftsman spends a lot of time carefully hand combing and sharpening the ceramic base, creating the most efficient design to grind and mix your ingredients firmly while saving time and strength. You won’t need to worry about the bowl shifting during use due to the silicone base it has on the bottom of the bowl. This bowl is perfect for making things such as sauces (think pestos, moles and more), crushing nuts and seeds, making salad dressing, grinding herbs or spice mixes.
