About the Event
Join James Beard award-winning author Sarah Owens for a workshop focusing on the natural fermentation of einkorn breads and pastries using a sourdough starter. In this 2 1/2 hour workshop, you will create your own sourdough starter using this ancient, flavorful, and remarkably nutritious grain known for its unique digestibility and particular baking requirements. Sarah will explain the benefits of freshly milled flour along with a demonstration of how to make your own using a table top mill. You will also make an easy but wholesome and delicious sourdough pan loaf to bake at home and sample einkorn baked goods made from Sarah's latest title Heirloom. All materials provided, including a jar of heirloom einkorn sourdough starter, 9x5" loaf pan and einkorn bread dough (mixed in class) to bake at home!
