About the Event
Learn the magic (and the maintenance) of heirloom sourdough starters alongside an introductory lesson in the art of sourdough bread baking.
The class will begin with a DISCUSSION of techniques, maintenance and troubleshooting for your sourdough starters. Each student will get HANDS-ON with a big batch of dough, transforming it through a series of stretches and folds, eventually leading to what will become their own sourdough loaf. We will shape the loaves together in class, and you will bake them later that day (in your own home). Fresh sourdough starters will be provided in jars for each student to TAKE HOME along with their shaped loaf.Â
Led by Preserved team member and DIY enthusiast, Julia Street.Â
Students are ASKED TO BRING in a THIN TEA TOWEL and a deep BOWL or COLANDER approximately 8 inches in diameter to transport their shaped dough home.Â
Alternatively, students may purchase a proofing basket and muslin cloth here at the shop for an additional $22.
All students will receive a 10% discount on post-workshop purchases in our store. Thanks for taking the next step in preserving your connection to food.
The minimum age for our workshops is 14 years old.
All sales are final and cannot be transferred to a future class, unless we have a waitlist. In the event you cannot attend, we suggest passing your ticket along to a friend.Â
