About the Event
Demystify the tangy, sweet, salty-heat of Indian Achaars - the mouth-watering pickles of India! This workshop begins with a LECTURE on the history, unique oils & spice blends, and preserving techniques used in making Indian-style pickles. You will also learn how to make these delicious condiments probiotic by using both Indian and Western fermentation techniques. We will get to TASTE a variety of different types of Indian pickles. We'll demonstrate a Southern-style Indian chutney pickle, then get HANDS-ON on making a batch of Northern- style pickles for each student to TAKE HOME!
This class is led by local chef, baker and educator Pankaj Kumar.
